Semi-Submersible Rig
A Semi-Submersible Rig is designed like an Ice-Berg so that most of the rig is placed underwater. This gives the rig stability in high winds or rough seas. In shallow waters the rig can sit on the sea bed. In the past anchors have been used to attach the rig to the sea bed. Modern technology has advanced and now computers are used to hold the rig in place. Semi-Submersible Rigs can sail and manoeuvre themselves into position. Fluid is pumped to the bottom of the rig to submerse it.
